Prism, Firefox 3.6, OS X and dependentlibs.list
February 9, 2010 – 5:28 pmAs we prepare to go live with Prism 1.ob3, I should mention that there is an issue with using the Prism extension in Firefox 3.6 on OS X. Prism uses the Firefox runtime (meaning the XUL, XPCOM and other libraries) for apps it creates. There is a small bug in Firefox 3.6 that prevents the libraries from loading on OS X. See bug 542004 for more information. The bug is currently nominated for inclusion in 1.9.2.2 (I guess it’s too late for 1.9.2.1). If someone is reading this and has the power to make this happen, please keep in mind that this issue is currently preventing Prism from running properly in Firefox 3.6 on Macs.
The good news is that there is a workaround that Mac users can use while waiting for a fixed version of Firefox 3.6. Just download the file dependentlibs.list and place it in your /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS folder (or equivalent if you don’t have Firefox installed in the default location).

Matthew, I was also surprised to see approval for 1.9.2.2 on one of my bugs – but then I was told that there won’t be a Firefox release on Gecko 1.9.2.1. See http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.platforms.mobile/browse_thread/thread/a0d34c2c31aa31ad for details.

Hi. I have an issue with Prism 1.03b. On some machines it refuses to run. The error message says: “This application has failed to start
because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the
application may fix this problem.”.
I have posted the issue on google group as well but no working solution has been given.
Does prism have any pre-requisetes? any system libraries? Because on some machines with same spec it runs smoothly.
I am having issues with a clean windows xp sp3 installation, for example, and all updates are installed.
