Update Prism Test Version for Windows
June 14, 2008 – 9:22 pmIt was brought to my attention that the regprot.exe file delivered with the latest test version of Prism (on Windows) in order to implement custom protocol handlers can cause registry damage. This should never happen during normal Prism usage, but it might if you accidentally run the program directly. This shouldn’t be particularly difficult to fix, but I’m on vacation and don’t have access to a Windows box. So for now I’ve uploaded a modified version which simply removes that file. This means that you can’t register new protocol handlers, but I prefer to take this step rather than risk people messing up their Windows installation.
If you’ve already installed the latest Prism test version, please be aware that running regprot.exe directly could make Windows very unhappy. If you’re nervous about this, I would recommend deleting the file (the rest of Prism is fine) and waiting for the next update to try out the protocol handler feature.
